The goals and objectives of Akwa Ibom State Government are articulated as best as can be within the Space available.
1. Commercial Business Zone: It is proposed the the Commercial Businesses zone occupy the best and most easily developed plots. This will be the bedrock development for the Science and Technology Park.
Plot provided in this zone range in size from 800m2 to 1200m2. the site for Akwa Net is Unique in size at 14,000m2. This is designed as the major magnet for development in the Science Park and has been allocated adequate land for growth in infrastructure.
Generally Plots in the commercial business zone are the most pristine, availed with the best scenery and views.
2. Industrial Business Zone: This zone is provided for small industrial businesses. Plot sizes range from 800m2 to 1,200m2 and are towards the rear of the park. Although plot sizes do not vary much in this zone from plot sizes in the commercial business zone, it is expected that the number of persons per m2 in this zone will be far less than in the commercial business zone.
To facilitate industrial business growth, this master-plan proposes that several industrial shells be developed by DEVCO to kick-start and facilitate commencement of industrial activity in the park. These industrial shells will be used to warehouse new It manufacturing concerns within the Park, and will also set the design trend for other industrial development in the area.
3. Commercial Services Zone: This zone is provided for all commercial activity to support the businesses within the Science & Technology Park. Plot size from 800m2 to 1,000m2 and they are located for easy access by occupants of the other site zones.
Primary development within this Zones will be for commercial businesses selling their services to other occupants of the Science & Technology Park. It is intend that these commercial developments would also provide a technological yardstick by which commerce will grow within Akwa Ibom State.
4. Technical Services Zone: This is set aside for all technical support activity of the Park. The zone will be occupied by the various department with OPCO and will be designated as "Brown Lands". No land within the this zone will be sold and no change of usage will be allowed under any circumstances. All developments within this zone will be done by DEVCO.
5. Residential Services Zone: This zone is set aside for residential activity of the park. The zone will be developed by various persons in their private capacity, who would have residential relevance to the park. it is intended that these persons would build accommodation, which will be utilized by students within the park.
6. Civic Zone: This zone is set aside for civic activities within the Park. The zone will be developed by various organizations in their private capacity, which would have civic relevance to the park, it is intended that these persons would build accommodation, which will be utilized by students within the park.
